When I launched the Marketing Excellence blog, I looked for a list of the top marketing blogs to understand who were the key thought leaders in my space. Mack filled a gap by publishing on
Viral Garden a
weekly list that has become in one month the reference ranking for Marketing blogs. He has found a great niche that has built instant recognition and buzz for his blog: Viral Garden represented the highest traffic increase in the top 25 marketing blogs last week.
Mack builds his list every Monday based on Alexa's traffic rankings, which he views as more accurate than Technorati's link approach. You will find in the list familiar names such as Guy Kawasaki, Seth Godin or John Jantsch (see my post with John on
small business web 2.0). But this weekly update is also a great tool to identify new blogging trends and emerging thought leaders: congrats to Alain and
FutureLab for making the list this week!
(For the record, the Marketing Excellence blog is not tracked in Mack's list because it doesn't have a unique domain to distinguish its traffic from hp.com. The same holds true for the
Marketingprofs daily fix)
