Six degrees is not the temperature outside, although it could be. No, our six degrees is a charity announced Friday at Sundance by actor Kevin Bacon …

The game Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon is well known. It plays off the concept that everyone is related to everyone else within six connections (six degrees of separation). The goal of the game is to link another actor to Bacon within as few movies as possible.

Luckily, Kevin Bacon has a sense of humor. If you can’t, beat ‘em, join ‘em -- and even better if you can do it better. While he admits in USA Today that he’s no good at the game, with the new charitable initiative he announced yesterday, I think we can safely say he’s taken the six degrees game one better.
Bacon and Network for Good have created sixdegrees.org, a charitable community in which celebrities and regular folks alike share their favorite charity. When you donate to someone’s charity through sixdegrees.org, you can display a “badge” from the person whose charity you supported on your Web site or blog.
Linking us all together by doing good.
