When we say “Backstage at Sundance” we mean it. Simon Townshend is the brother of Pete Townshend, the legendary lead guitarist for The Who. He’s an amazing singer-songwriter and is visiting Sundance to perform at the ASCAP Music Café (Star Bar @ 268 Main St. – he plays Sunday & Monday).

We met up with Simon for an interview, but something much more exciting happened. Being the artist that he is, Simon speaks through verse. “How about a song?” he asked.

See his amazing impromptu performance here.

Next thing we know, we’re out in the snow in a back alley off Main Street. Simon, with guitar in hand, is stopping traffic and drawing a crowd, as he belts out an amazing acoustic number -- all while the snow falls softly on his shoulders and on the camera lens.

Info about Simon Townshend:

Simon Townshend has been recording and performing music since he was 9 years old, and he has independently produced and released five critically acclaimed CDs. Go to Simon's website for more details.

This is the first time I have ever heard Simon and I have seen his brother perform. Simon ROCKS!!!! I was amazed how great it sounded and could see the steam from his breath, so I know it must have been cold. Thanks for the post.
